NWK graduated from the Welsh School of Architecture and began his early practice in the 80s in England in Healthcare with the SW Thames Regional Health Authority. With Covell Matthews Wheatley Ltd, he pursued Corporate architecture such as the Merrill Lynch European office projects in the City of London and others such as the Klientworth Benson Bank.

He returned from London in 1987 and formed Acasys, a progressive architectural group with his partners and completed the Proton Centre of Excellence, the Tractors Bhd Headquarters and the Nilai Cancer Hospital. This has established a presence in the marketplace culminating in a series of significant architectural accomplishments.

NWK Chartered Architect was established in 1991 to undertake his passion for experimental design orientated projects as a testbed for creativity and ideas. From 2006, he made a career change to redevelop NWKA as a boutique architectural design house to focus on his passion to conceptualize his idea of Success is By Design Philosophy. Now, he desires to accelerate his pursuit to reach the next level of excellence to work on niche projects as it is his firm conviction that success is a process of design excellence.

Mazlin Ghazali is the Director of NWKA passionate with the living environment.

He believes that strong communities are created from good neighbourhoods where conceptual space planning by design can create environmentally conscious green social spaces where people can take possession of their shared spaces and the safety of their home domain.

This belief has culminated in his creation of the Honeycomb Housing Concept based on the tessalated method of space planning. He co-authored the book titled “The Thermal Comfort Honeycomb Housing” which was published in 2006. The paper was also presented at the 2006 International Cities Towns and Community Conference, Queesland, Australia and at Pertubuhan Akitek Malaysia. The concept has also been granted an Australian Patent in 2010.

He is currently leading the team to realise the fruition of his work in Johor and Sarawak, Malaysia.

Leong Then Chai (TC) is the Managing Director of NWKA and has headed the company since its formation. He has been managing architectural practices for the past 30 years. He has over 35 years experience and expertise in legislative planning and building control aspects of architecture.

His philosophy is to ensure that architectural creations are executed expeditiously. As a result, NWKA enacts one of the most stringent compliance methodology and responsive delivery sysytems to address the constantly changing legislative building environment.

Notably, he has recently concluded successfully projects such as Fahrenheit 88 KL, Taylor’s University Lakeside Campus, Giant Hypermarkets and Giant Distribution Centre in a timely manner.

Born in 1966 in Kota Bharu, Kelantan. Nobli went to study Arts at West Texas A&M University, USA in 1984. He graduated with Bachelor of Architecture degree from Texas Tech University, USA in May 1991. He is registered with the Board of Architects Malaysia (LAM) as Graduate Architect.

Upon completion of his architectural studies, he worked for Cunningham Hamilton Quiter Architects in Minneapolis, USA and Marsden Building Maintenance Company in Saint Paul, USA since 1992. Upon returning back to Malaysia in 1996, he has worked for several mid-size firms in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor prior to joining NWKA Architects Sdn Bhd in 2009 as a Senior Project Architect.

During his employment in the early 1990s, Nobli was exposed to new developments in computer aided design (CAD) and gained considerable skills and knowledge in this field. He believes in working closely with his project team in order to personally develop their design, drafting and management skills which demonstrate the reliability of services provided by this firm in implementing and managing projects from initial schematic design to completion.

His experience on projects ranging from private residences, residential housing developments (Sunway SPK Superlink Houses, Sunway SPK Townhouses, Sunway SPK Semi-Detached Houses and Cahaya SPK Semi-Detached Houses), mixed commercial developments (Pandan City Commercial Centre in Johor Bahru, Datum Jelatek in KL and Southkey Mosaic in Johor Bahru) and institutional buildings (Parcel C Government Office Complex in Putrajaya, Melaka Islamic University College and Taylors University Lakeside Campus in Subang Jaya).

Hanis worked with NWKA in 2010 and continued his study for part 2 in IIUM. Design is a big part of his life and he enjoys everything from design and architecture. During his studies, his passion in design brought him to various design competition locally and internationally such as Evolo skyscraper competition 2011, Nippon Paint Young Designer Award 2012, HYP Cup International Student Design Competition 2014, D3 Housing Tomorrow 2014 and recently PAM Homeless Shelter Competition 2015 with NWKA.

Hanis takes keen interest in modern and modest architecture style. He believes architecture should respond to all different level of users. His definition of architectural quality is not merely a finished product of a building but a building or architecture than can move and inspires people.
